United Methodist Men
The ministry of United Methodist Men in the local church is defined as a core group of men, to initiate spiritual growth opportunities for all men of the church. All of us have different gifts, and areas of interest. Therefore, opportunities for participation would include diverse ministries of the church, such as prayer groups, missions, Bible studies, retreats, workshops/seminars, leading and participating in…and on….committees, teaching Sunday school, youth ministries, scouting, and assisting in leading worship services. The focus is not inward, concentrating only on those who attend a set meeting, but outward to all men, assisting them to engage the process of spiritual growth.
We are partners with UMC clergy. It is the heart and intent of UM men leaders to join with UMC clergy as partners and co-laborers in the task of reaching men for Christ. We know that reaching men is difficult, time consuming and frustrating. It is impossible without laymen and clergy working together in relationships that please God.
We are partners with UMC men. UM men declare a full commitment to reach and serve every man within the UMC family, and every man our congregation can reach. We consider every man in our denomination to be a United Methodist man.
Here at St. Paul's, we strive to meet those goals, through our hands on activities in support of providing meals the the Desiard St. mission, in support of scouting, in support of the food bank, the Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services, our monthly lunch meetings (1st Thurs of each month, Jade Garden, 11:30am, $5/person), in support of the churches external mission team, and through financial contributions to 18 different local ministries and served agencies.
