Why is our newsletter called "The Epistle"?

An epistle is a writing directed or sent to a person or group of people, usually an elegant and formal didactic letter. In the context of the New Testament, the letters from the Apostles to Christians are referred to as epistles. These can be categorized into Pauline epistles, which are attributed to Paul the Apostle, and catholic (general) epistles, which are not attributed to Paul.

The Pauline epistles include letters such as First Epistle to the Thessalonians, First and Second Epistles to the Corinthians, and Epistle to the Romans.

The catholic epistles include letters like the Epistle of James, First and Second Epistles of Peter, First, Second, and Third Epistles of John, and the Epistle of Jude. The traditional authorship of these epistles is often attributed to figures like James, brother of Jesus, Simon Peter, and John, son of Zebedee
