As United Methodists, we value the spiritual disciplines and take an intentional approach to growing in faith. John Wesley and early Methodists invited people to grow in their knowledge and love of God through Christian living.
We hold the Bible to be divinely inspired and are committed to live by its words. We study the Scriptures carefully. When we encounter theological differences with others, we remember John Wesley's approach, "in essentials, unity; in non-essentials liberty; in all things, charity."
By experience, we mean the "new life in Christ" which is ours as a gift of God's grace. Only through practicing community will we grow fully in the grace and knowledge to be found in Jesus. We don't only place an emphasis on Christian living, but also in the understanding of God's saving grace.
We believe we read and interpret Scripture with reasoning and the Holy Spirit's leading. By reason we ask questions of faith and seek to understand God's will for our lives. We place emphasis on Christian living and putting faith and love into action.
